We are positively weighed down – if deliciously – by ripe tomatoes coming from our tomato plants – not to mention the cooking apples from the tree in the main garden. And now the beans are in full flow!

Meanwhile the squash (or are they courgettes?) are obviously on something pretty powerful as they are racing away. The striped one is self planted and is taking over the path down to the garden….

…while the main ones have not only charged along the ground but have now headed up the wall and are poking out above the roses! But as yet no sign of any fruit!

Next door to them I am delighted to report that the raspberries have finally settled in and are looking very healthy so maybe we will even get an autumn crop.

The nasturciums in the planters seem to have done a great job of scaring off the slugs and both the new crops of beetroots and carrots and the new crop of chard are all doing fine. (In fact the old crop of chard is still nowhere near finished as you can see – and it has been going for several months.)

And finally, the new crop of rocket in the pergola planter is now nestling round the feet of one of the vines. The second vine (I was instructed that I needed two to fertilise each other so we have one black grape vine and one white) is still sitting in its pot waiting for Steve to set up our radiator tap (more in another post…) so that is can be planted next to it.

So all growing well and just waiting for the children to come back in September.

Quick August update
