welcome to the growing garden
What’s a Growing Garden?
It is a garden which starts with brambles and then bare earth but then ‘grows’ raised beds and arches and ponds and walls up which to grow climbers….
How are we going to do it?!
Well that’s a big question! So…
What is going to grow in the Growing Garden?
Vegetables and green leaves, edible flowers, fruits and fruit trees, hops and vines….
Who is going to work in the garden?
Children, young people and adults who would enjoy working with nature, helping plants to grow and learning how to become caring guardians of our earth.
Who will organise the garden and the work?
The team from the Urban Forest Tribe – Paula, the Tribe’s founder, Vanessa, our Forest School leader, Michael our trusty ecologist – and Michelle who lives next door.
Where is the garden?
Tucked in beside Michelles’ own garden in Highgate with its own entrance, and its garage café.
How is the garden funded?
We are excited that, through the Urban Forest Tribe, we have received a small £500 grant to help kick start our growing garden. We’re currently reaching out to local businesses in hopes of securing donations of materials. Additionally, we were fortunate to be selected for free plants from the RHS Flower Show.
If you or anyone you know would like to support this wonderful project, please consider donating
If you are a garden company or builders’ merchant interested in supporting local initiatives, we’d love to hear from you at garden@thegrowinggarden.org.uk
How can you get involved with the garden?
